The ice-age is coming....

Gavin! Was that you? Posted by Hello

Well, we've got one thesis down, but there's still one to go. Dorthe finished the full first draft of her thesis over the weekend, and it is now out and being revised by the various powers that be, including yours truly. She's done very well to hammer it out in around about six weeks or so.

My thesis, on the other hand, is as still-born as ever. I have, finally started making some progress on it though, which is a nice feeling - although I have to admit, it was really only because Dorthe and I were both working on our respective thesises over the weekend in her office, on adjacent computers, and she sat there with a big stick...... I think coming to Denmark may have been the worst thing that happened to my thesis - whatever motivation I had before (which, to be honest, was very little) was completely swept away by the prospect of Wienerbrød (danishes), Tuborg, Carlsberg, and an entire new country to explore!

Still, I have started making progress, and hope to have my first draft complete sometime soon. I have about 50 pages or so left to write, hopefully a bit less, and I feel like I finally know what I'm going to write, and how I'm going to write it, so it's just a matter of sitting down and cranking it out. Always easier said than done, though.....

Meanwhile, talking of procrastinating, I spent a couple of hours on the road bike today, hammering away as usual though the Danish country-side: that's where the above picture was taken, near the town of Farum on the outskirts of Copenhagen. Ahhh, those crazy danes. They have signs for everything! Damn it's getting cold though - 6 °C air temperature, and a 20 knot headwind all the way out there left my feet solid blocks of ice. And she's only getting colder, trev. The forecast for saturday is for an overnight low of down to -5 °C, daytime max of 2 °C, strong winds, rain, and a chance of snow. Faaack. The ice age is definitely coming! Time to wrap up warm and crank out that thesis I think!
