What do you mean, capped?

Yeah, it seems that I have been a bad boyfriend.

Apparently internet useage here in Dorthe's dorm is not infinite or unlimited (as it was in Berkeley!), and um, yeah, I discovered the 3GB in 30 days barrier the hard way a few days ago, which explains why I am not answering emails, and I'm not writing anything up here. It's funny to look at the graph of her internet useage - it hovers at around the 1-5MB per day level, and then suddenly, on the 8th of September, it takes off and heads skyward, averaging well over the 200MB per day level!. Me? Use the internet lots? Never..... So, yes I have been bad and used all the internet that we are alotted - its been off for the last two days (I've had the delerium tremens this morning), which made me unpopular when Dorthe tried to email her thesis home lastnight. It's back on now, but we only have 20MB total to last us for the next 8 days. It's going to be tough - I have even turned off the images on my browser, to minimise the bandwidth useage....!

The absence of the internet yesterday actually made me get outside and do some much needed training for the coast to coast. I have finally got my roadbike setup - I've had it for over six months, but I've been so busy with work that I haven't had a chance to do all the stuff I needed to do to it - install a speedo, put wheels for training (as opposed to training wheels!) on it, make it look pretty, all those sorts of important things. Well, since I got here I have finally found the time to do all that stuff, and yesterday was an absolute stunner of a day - somewhere about 13-15 degrees C, blue skies and no wind - so I went for a ride along the coast north of here, heading up towards Helsingør (where Hamlet's castle is). That particular stretch of road is one of the national cycle highways, and it was just great - you have your own lane along the side of the road, about 3m wide or so, and in perfect condition - no potholes, no loose gravel, nothing. Perfectly smooth. And of course there are no traffic lights and very few other people on the road, so you can just sit there and hammer away until your hearts content (or rather, until your heart is pounding in your mouth!). I got as far as a small town called Nivå, just north of Rungsted (home of Karen Blixen, author of "Out of Africa"), before turning back - a nice 60km round trip. That bike is fast too, soo much faster than my old bike - I used to struggle to average much over 20 kph, but the average for that trip was about 27, 28kph. That is a beautiful stretch of coast, it really is. On one side you have the Øresund (looking very flat and peaceful yesterday), and can see all the way across to Sweden. On the other side you have these beautiful big old houses (all with flagpoles and danish flags), rolling grassland, and even wooded areas. It made for a rather stunning ride really - it certaintly helps to take your mind off how uncomfortable your seat is right now..... Right, enough of this. Bandwidth is limited after all!
