The Advent Blog
Dorthe's advent candle. Every day you burn the candle for a couple of hours, down to the appropriate mark, thus marking the progression towards xmas day.
Advent is an aspect of christmas that we don't really celebrate in New Zealand that much - I can remember trying to make advent calendars when I was about five at school with Mrs Voscher, our primary school teacher, but that is about as far as it goes.
But here in Denmark, advent is a big part of xmas, and it certaintly gets everyone excited and in the mood for Xmas day. So, I thought that I would use my little blog here to bring you southern hemisphere types a sampling of Xmas in the north. You probably know advent calendars work. Everyday you open a little box in the calendar, to see what you got. Well, this is the same idea, except its a blog - check back everyday, and you'll get a different picture of Xmas here in Denmark. And NO PEEKING AHEAD!
